Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the incessant push-and-pull of thoughts? The kind that keeps you up at night trying to figure out what the answer is and what to do with it?
We call that chatter in the skull.
All of us experience moments when our minds are stuck in overdrive, but here's something that I've found: the best tool in our tool belt is self-expression.
Sharing your thoughts and feelings with another person is key - it's about articulating your thoughts into the world, pulling them out of your mind, and making sense of what's inside.
When you keep everything bottled up, your thoughts can easily become tangled, but by learning to communicate your thoughts out loud, you can:
Quiet the Mind: Speaking up allows you to turn down the noise.
Clarify Your Thoughts: Putting feelings into words helps you organize and understand them.
Gain Perspective: New viewpoints can offer solutions you hadn't considered.
Feel Lighter: Voicing concerns makes them less daunting.
I had a client earlier this week who said that they initially decided to book a call with me because they felt like they couldn't open up to anyone in their immediate social circle.
Ultimately, this led to unwanted chatter in the skull.
Though difficult at first, we reached the point in our conversation where they felt welcomed to openly share their story, allowing me to provide my insight on how to reframe the situation and clean up their mental space.
With a smile on their face and a new energy about them, they admitted that this was exactly what they needed and that they were ready to take on the week.
All this is to say, speak your mind and clarity will follow.
